for Clearer Waters!
What We're Doing to Help Preserve the Earth's Resources:
- Recycling. We have made it our policy to recycle as much product as possible including oil, paint and fuel products as well as paper, cans, plastic among other things.
- Heating and Air. We've revamped our heating and cooling system to be more efficient to help cut energy consumption at our facilities.
- Energy Efficient Solar Compatible Building. When our facilities were built, it was imperative that it be energy efficient. Therefore, it was built with energy efficiant solar capabilities.
What Boaters Can Do to Help Preserve the Earth's Resources:
- Avoid Engine Oil Contamination. According to boatingworld.com, oil is one of the major contaminants being introduced into boating waters. Be careful when changing or adding oil. The slightest oil spill can cause water contamination. (Source: www.boatingworld.com)
- Avoid Fuel Spillage. The best way to avoid fuel spilling into waters is to fill up the tank at a the local filling station prior to putting your boat in the water. This will eliminate the chance of spilling fuel into the water at the dock station and avoid the chance of contamination. (Source: www.boatingworld.com)
- Invasion of Non-native plants and animals. To avoid 'cross-contamination', make sure that you thoroughly wash your boat with fresh water being careful to wash off all vegetation that may contaminate another body of water. If possible use hot water to rinse. If hot water is not available, use high pressured water for best results. It is also helpful to flush the engine coolant passages before traveling. This eliminates the possibility of transporting eggs or larvae of animals so tiny they are difficult to see with the naked eye.
