Parts & Accessories Associate

Parts & Accessories Department - Full-time

Buzz’s Marine of Kearney has an immediate opening for an organized individual to join our growing customer-oriented parts and accessories department. Some retail, computer knowledge, mechanical, parts, and/or boating background is helpful. Duties include ordering, stocking, shipping, sales and informing customers about a broad range of marine products. Must have great customer service skills for this position. Training provided. This is a full-time position with a starting hourly rate of $15 + commission. Your schedule will be Tuesday-Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. plus as needed from the parts manager. Your hours will be recorded, and you are eligible for overtime. 

Primary Duties

  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner to our customers and other associates
  • Check in freight
  • Sells products to repair the problem and meet the customer’s needs
  • Read catalogs/computer programs to determine parts needed
  • Provide Service Techs with parts as required
  • Demonstrate product to customers
  • Remains Product “expert” through ongoing product knowledge training
  • Knowledgeable of advertised sales; maintain pricing and signing
  • Restock merchandise as required
  • Performs routine housekeeping tasks that maintain and enhance the cleanliness of the department, products and the retail sales area, as well as work space
  • Uses dealership equipment and resources safely and proficiently (forklift and tractor)
  • Performs other tasks as required by Parts and Accessories Manager

Work Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent experience
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, handle tools, and use both hands
  • Frequently lift 40-50lbs and assist in lifting 50-80lbs
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to frequently enter and exit vehicles. Must have valid driver’s license
  • Boating &/or Mechanical Experience Preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Management, coworkers and customers.
  • Ability to operate computerized Point of Sale register system
  • Customer service skills required via phone, email and in-person

Marine Technician

Full-time

We are currently recruiting the top individuals with the right background in the automotive repair industry to join our award winning service department and train to become a master marine service technician (usually completed in 12-24 months).    Besides being extremely clean work, marine technicians are compensated well.  Customer service oriented trainees can expect to earn approximately $33,000 to $38,000 a year with benefits provided.  Fully trained marine specialists with good skills earn $60,000 to $70,000 a year and benefits.  Will train the right candidate. 

Primary Duties

  • Diagnose a wide variety of issues while utilizing computer diagnostics and old fashioned intuition
  • Be a problem solver and be willing to tackle anything - Be able to work independently and efficiently
  • Be comfortable using a wide range of shop tools and equipment
  • Maintain cutting-edge knowledge of marine diagnostic technology
  • Perform routine services and inspections
  • Repair (and/or rig) a variety of boats including outboard and inboard/outboard, as well as trailers
  • Drive boats to pit and test
  • Assist in the setup and testing of new boats
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be a productive member of our team
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Provide own basic tools the shop provides all special tools
  • Complete winterization and summerizations 

Work Requirements
